The headquarters of the National Orchestra, which is also the venue for many shows, will close from the end of March for work to bring it up to standard. The concerts will be relocated and you will be able to find the beautiful auditorium of Place Mendès in September 2026 at the latest.

It’s just goodbye. The closure of the Nouveau Siècle from the end of March does not mean that you will no longer be able to see the Orchester National de Lille (which has its headquarters there) until the end of the work planned for September 2026 at the latest.

For context, 12 to 15 months of work driven by the Hauts-de-France Region are planned to bring the building dating from the 1980s up to safety standards.”But the Auditorium will be the same when we return“, promises Nicolas Foulon, press manager of the ONL.

Off-site programming

In the meantime, the orchestra’s concerts have been relocated to other performance halls in the city: the Opera, the Casino Barrière and the Sébastopol theater. “The ticket office will remain open at Place Mendès France“, specifies Nicolas. For its rehearsals and for the storage of instruments, the orchestra moves to Fives. “The administrative offices go to the Euralille side.”

Between now and the end of March, it is still possible to enjoy the spot with a film screening, dance shows, the comedy show with Paul Taylor as part of the Lillarious festival or even star concerts (we’ll give you the link to the diary). And the ONL will also play in February, we’ll tell you more in a future article (because there’s a good plan that goes with it). Stay tuned.
