England
On the night of December 31 to January 1, the Tar Barrel Festival is celebrated in Allendale, in the north of England. This celebration dates back to 1858. Around forty men carry flaming barrels on their heads across the city. Shortly before midnight, they return to the village square to light a bonfire by throwing their barrels.
