Tamedia has reached an agreement with the staff representatives of the CIL printing centers in Bussigny and DZZ in Zurich. It concerns two new social plans and additional benefits. A bonus will be paid to CIL employees at the time of closure.
Tamedia also guarantees employment for Zurich employees until the printing works close at the end of 2026. In addition, the Zurich group will focus on extensive support and support during career reorientation, it said in a press release on Thursday.
In addition to the basic benefits of the social plan such as severance pay and financial assistance, Tamedia has commissioned experts who will support employees with individual training for professional reorientation and career planning. They will actively prepare them for a new start, notes the company.
Without pension reduction
Additional benefits for the two printing companies include, among other things, early retirement without pension reduction for long-term employees. Additional support will be allocated to families with dependent children.
Quoted in the press release, the general director of Tamedia Jessica Peppel-Schulz declared “deeply thank the personnel committees of the two printing centers for allowing us to reach an agreement on a good package of services in the interest of the employees and collaborators”.
Vast restructuring
For the record, Tamedia announced at the end of August a vast restructuring with the closures of the printing works in Bussigny and Zurich, as well as several cuts in the editorial offices of its titles. With 63 employees, the Bussigny printing plant, which has existed since 1989, will close its doors at the end of March 2025. The DZZ printing center in Zurich will close its doors at the end of 2026.

Tamedia points out that the overcapacity of recent years does not allow three printing plants to be operated profitably. Only its printing works in Bern will be maintained.
