As part of its initiatives in favor of innovation, BMCI launched, last July, the “Greentech Roadshow”, an event taking place in four major regions of Morocco. This initiative, carried out in partnership with Technopark, French Tech and Kluster CFCIM and sponsored by Arval and Engie, aimed to identify the most innovative startups in the blue economy, low-carbon and agritech sectors. .
In total, more than 100 applications were submitted, and around fifty startups were selected to present their projects during events organized in Essaouira, Fez, Tangier and Casablanca. The startups thus presented innovative solutions in terms of sustainable technologies and environmentally friendly development. At each stage of the roadshow, a finalist was designated, bringing the total of semi-finalists to four, who will be evaluated during a final scheduled for next January in Casablanca. The winners will share a cash prize totaling several thousand dirhams, organizers say.
Among the projects that most attracted the attention of the jury made up of experts, the startups that proposed sustainable agricultural and agro-industrial valorization, fast, ecological and economical car washing, the recycling of organic waste into biofertilizers and remote control of the energy consumption of buildings.
In addition to startups, this roadshow brought together more than 230 participants, including high-ranking personalities starting with His Excellency, André Azoulay, Advisor to His Majesty who kicked off the Greentech Roadshow at the Technopark in Essaouira, but also universities, companies and institutional partners of the BMCI.
The semi-final held in Casablanca on December 17 was also an opportunity to formalize a partnership between BMCI, represented by Mr. Hicham Seffa, Chairman of the Management Board, and the Technopark, represented by Ms. Lamia Benmakhlouf, Managing Director. This partnership aims to strengthen collaboration between the two entities in the field of Open Innovation.
