Abrupt end of season for the NM Trans-St-Laurent

People who planned to use the NM Trans-St-Laurent service during the holiday break will have to review their plans, and quickly. The ship’s navigation season has ended due to a breakdown, the Société des ferry du Québec (STQ) confirmed this Tuesday, December 17.

Initially scheduled for January 2, the end of activities on the ferry, which connects Rivière-du-Loup to Saint-Siméon, was abruptly brought forward. The crossings scheduled over the next two weeks will therefore not take place.

“The STQ must bring forward the end of its navigation season due to a problem with the hydraulic system of the pier ramp,” underlined the Société des ferry du Québec (STQ) in a brief press release.

“The necessary work will be spread over several weeks and will exceed the date of January 2, the planned end of the season,” she added.

The NM Trans-St-Laurent remained at dock between December 15 and 17 “due to a breakdown.” Few details have been released about this period.

The STQ specifies that the problem, although important, “should not compromise the start of the next season”.

Further details will follow…
