LDLC, the French company specializing in the online sale of computer equipment, electronics, and high-tech products, was the victim ofa new cyber attack. In a press release published this Tuesday, December 10, 2024, the brand indicates that it has undergone “a leak of customer data”. LDLC will likely notify affected customers by email.
“Customers do not need to take any action and they will be informed if their data is affected”declares LDLC.
The group does not specify what data was stolen during the intrusion. We can expect that first and last names, addresses and telephone numbers will be affected by the leak. However, “no financial or sensitive customer data is affected”.

Investigation underway at LDLC
LDLC states that “Group security experts and partners” ont “immediately took the necessary measures to strengthen already existing protection measures, minimize possible consequences and investigate their origins”. While “investigations are still ongoing”LDLC does not reveal how cybercriminals were able to access its customers' databases.
Unsurprisingly, the brand recommends that its customers remain cautious if you receive an email or SMS from LDLC. Armed with your personal data, hackers could try to impersonate the brand in order to extort money from you. They could in particular mention an order in progress to put to rest your mistrust, especially during this end-of-year period. This is also the tactic used by hackers behind parcel scams, which is making a comeback in France.
LDLC specifies that “the relevant government authorities and regulators” have been contacted. The company has probably planned the National Commission for Information Technology and Liberties (CNIL), namely the regulator responsible for data protection and compliance with the GDPR.

A second cyberattack
It's already there second time within a year that LDLC finds itself in the crosshairs of cybercriminals. Last February, hackers from the Epsilon Group gang exfiltrated the data of 1.5 million of the group's customers, including the SIRET number or VAT number. The data was sold on BreachForums.
LDLC joins the long list of French brands hacked at the end of the year. Cultura, Boulanger, Auchan, Truffaut and Picard were also targeted by computer attacks.
