The public channel announced this Tuesday, December 10, that in “reason for international news” – and “the historical event” what constitutes the fall of the Bashar El Assad regime on December 8, 2024 – it would modify its programming this Sunday, December 15. In its Sunday slot “Le monde en face”, presented by Mélanie Taravant, France 5 will indeed offer “an updated version” from Antoine Vitkine's documentary, “Bachar, the master of chaos”. Originally programmed, “Hitler-Stalin, the clash of tyrants”, documentary directed by Michaël Prazan and narrated by Philippe Torreton, will be offered later.

“How did Bashar save his throne for so long?”

In its original version, this 70-minute documentary looks back on “ten years of conflict mixing civil war, jihadism, regional and international war“. “Who would have thought that 10 years after the start of a revolt born from the “Arab Spring”, the former medical student who did not want power, would still reign over his country?“, Antoine Vitkine asked.
