The European Union has set the course for all-electric, and despite sales falling short of hopes in 2024, manufacturers have no choice but to continue launching battery-powered cars. The year 2025 will therefore be even more loaded with new electric products than 2024. Here are the 10 models which will undoubtedly make the most noise among all those which should be revealed.

The long-awaited Tesla Model Y facelift will finally be revealed and may not come alone
A real steamroller, the Tesla Model Y reigns supreme in the electric family SUV segment (and not only that). However, many competitors are trying to destabilize Elon Musk's firm, which will receive a restyling in 2025. This improved version, known under the code name Juniper, should benefit from developments already made to the Model 3 at the end of 2023. The restyled Model Y should therefore abandon the steering wheel controls, but also review its interior presentation with more attractive materials. On the outside, however, the SUV could distance itself from the Model 3 by adopting a new lighting signature.
In the first half of 2025, Tesla also plans to present two new models that are more accessible than the Model 3 and Model Y, and which will use part of the architecture. However, as is often the case with Tesla, these could only be showcars and the arrival on the roads of these new electric cars could take a little longer.
The Volkswagen ID.2 is preparing to face the Renault 5 E-Tech
If the Renault 5 E-Tech was undoubtedly the most anticipated, it is far from being the only electric car to attack the city car market for less than €25,000 excluding bonuses. Its obvious rival, the production version of the Volkswagen ID concept. 2all, will be presented in 2025 and will abandon the “ID.” nomenclature. It will be based on the MEB Entry platform, a simplified version of the MEB version, developed exclusively for electric cars.

The one still nicknamed ID.2 will give birth to other models. We already know that it will be entitled to a GTI version in 2027, but that Cupra, Seat's sports brand, will already rely on the technical base of the ID.2 to offer its own electric bomb. Called Raval, it should also be launched in 2025 and compete with the Alpine A290. In 2026 this time, Volkswagen will present an SUV nicknamed ID.2 X, like the Renault 4 E-Tech for the new R5. Here again, a cousin model will already be launched by another brand in the group. It was Škoda which this time received priority with its Epiq.
Citroën will electrify its C5 Aircross SUV
Citroën will renew its C5 Aircross in 2025. And if the first generation of the compact SUV was only available in thermal and plug-in hybrid versions, the new model will be available for the first time in all-electric form. This ë-C5 Aircross will use the technologies of the Peugeot e-3008 and its STLA Medium platform. It remains to be seen whether its largest battery of 96.9 useful kWh, which offers up to 700 km of autonomy to the e-3008, will also be offered by Citroën.
DS Automobiles prepares its new flagship
It is in reality at the very end of 2024 that DS Automobiles will lift the veil on its new flagship. Nicknamed DS 8 by the press, it should be a crossover between a raised sedan and a coupe SUV, according to the first images published of the still camouflaged model. Its major argument promises to be the autonomy, going up to 750 km in the WLTP mixed cycle.

Alpine will develop its range of electric cars with the A390
Another electric crossover from a French premium brand, the Alpine A390 will be presented next year in its production version, after being announced by a concept at the Paris Motor Show. This will be the first family model from Alpine, which has already paved the way towards its electrification with the A290 city car.
Porsche will risk offending purists with an electric 718
Long resistant to the electrification of its 911, which for the moment is content with micro-hybridization, Porsche has made its 918 Spyder hypercar its first plug-in hybrid sports car. For its first 100% electric sports car, this time the 718 range was chosen, surrounding the 911 with trendy models. But while the latter is for the moment prohibiting all-electric so as not to become too heavy, how will the Boxster and Cayman, supposed to offer even purer driving, manage to justify their electrification? We will have to wait a few more months to find out.
The BMW iX3 is about to enter a new era
The first mass-produced electric BMW, the i3 launched in 2013, was a model designed from scratch for this energy and very different from the manufacturer's other productions. However, this enthusiasm was subsequently stopped, and it was only in 2020 that BMW unveiled a second all-electric model, the iX3 based on the X3 thermal SUV.
Since then, the brand has launched many other electric cars, but most of them derived from models designed to accommodate internal combustion engines. To move to a new stage in its electrification, BMW will reconnect with its past enthusiasm and develop electric cars optimized for this energy. Prefigured by the Neue Klasse concepts, they should also adopt new stylistic codes. The first model of this new era will be an SUV which will take the place of the iX3.

Mercedes prepares an electric version of the CLA sedan
Mercedes, like BMW, has notably based its electrification strategy on plugged-in versions of existing models. However, the next model in the range to go all-electric will receive more extensive treatment. Thus, if the third generation of the CLA fastback sedan will not completely abandon its thermal engines, its new electric version will benefit from the new MMA multi-energy platform to offer an 800 V architecture. The GLA SUV will follow the same strategy thereafter.
Furthermore, Mercedes could also unveil its new electric GLC in 2025. This time it should be based on a platform dedicated to electricity, called MB.EA.
Kia will compete with the Tesla Model 3 with the EV4 sedan
Kia is one of the major players in the electric car market, but the brand has until now only offered crossovers and SUVs. This is about to change since Kia will soon unveil the EV4 sedan, which will have the difficult task of competing with the Tesla Model 3. It will still be based on the E-GMP platform dedicated to electric vehicles from the Hyundai group.
In addition, Kia plans to launch a small EV2 electric SUV descended from the Soul. It could (or not) be presented before the end of 2025.
The Nissan Leaf is about to become a crossover
Before the arrival of the electric Micra, based on the Renault 5 E-Tech, Nissan will present the third generation of its Leaf in 2025. This compact sedan, which was one of the first modern mass-produced electric cars, is preparing to adopt a new format to become a crossover. This generation should take over the CMF-EV platform dedicated to electricity.
The year 2025 therefore promises to be full of new electric products, especially as an electric SUV from Fiat, another from Toyota, cousin of the Suzuki e Vitara, an electric Range Rover from Land Rover, or even the electric SUV are also expected. #5 at smart. And for those allergic to raised models, Volvo will unveil its ES90 electric sedan. Finally, Jaguar will present a model which will have the difficult task of relaunching the manufacturer following its choice to abandon thermal engines.
