With the end of year holidays approaching, it's the race for Christmas shopping. Like every year, the brands are doubling their ingenuity in order to make the mouths of young and old alike water. Unfortunately for some low-income households, the end-of-year holidays are a moment of great suffering.

In addition to the growing sense of isolation for single people as the holidays approach, inflation is making Christmas shopping increasingly restricted for many households. Fortunately, the State has set up a Christmas bonus to help those on the lowest incomes. This will soon be paid. However, you must meet certain very specific criteria to be able to benefit from it. On the other hand, bad news was recently communicated to the French while awaiting their transfer.

The announcement made by the Minister of Labor and Employment

Like every year, the most modest households will therefore receive the Christmas bonus. In this very chaotic year 2024 from a political point of view, it is pleasant to see that this privilege has been maintained, despite the numerous budget cuts desired by the government of Michel Barnier.

The Ministry of Labor and Employment declared: “The exceptional end-of-year bonus known as the Christmas bonus will be 152.45 euros for single peopleplus 50% when the household is made up of two people, whether a spouse or a child, and another 30% for each additional child.”

What amounts for the Christmas bonus?

To benefit from this bonus, however, there are certain prerequisites to respect. In fact, you must already be
recipient of one of the following social benefits : the specific solidarity allowance (ASS), the retirement equivalent allowance (AER), the monthly flat-rate bonus for returning to work or the active solidarity income (RSA). If you did not receive any of this aid during the months of November or December 2024, you will not be eligible to receive the Christmas bonus. A little saving boost, the amounts of which have been revealed.

– €152.45 for a single person without children

– €228.67 for a couple without children or a single person with a child

– €274.41 for a couple with one child or a single person with 2 children

– €320.14 for a couple with 2 children

– €335.39 for a single person with 3 children

– €381.12 for a couple with 3 children

– €396.37 for a single person with 4 children

– €442.10 for a couple with 4 children

– €457.35 for a single person with 5 children

Christmas bonus paid later than expected

But bad news:
this bonus dedicated to the most modest households will be paid one week before Christmas. People who will be able to benefit from it will therefore only receive their transfer on Wednesday, December 17. That will only give them a week to try to garnish the base of the tree a little more. This is a little later than in previous years, which is not necessarily very good news for the beneficiaries.

This means that nearly 2.3 million French people will therefore receive this little help from the State. Not enough to get out of poverty, but it's always nice to be able to
put a little butter in the spinach during this holiday season.
