Michel Landry, from Bas-Saint-Laurent, Francine Leclerc, from the North Shore, and Michel Lessard, from Montreal, have become good friends over the years, despite the distance that separates them.

It was Mr. Landry who purchased the winning ticket in his region, reports Loto-Québec in a press release.

The trio won the guaranteed $1 million Lotto 6/49 prize on September 21.

When he told Michel Lessard the good news, the latter initially did not believe his friend.

“Mike is giving us a jokehe said. It is sure that he makes us a joke».

He then contacted Mr. Landry’s wife, who confirmed that it was indeed real.

The three lucky retirees, who met in Quebec to celebrate their win, intend to continue traveling with the million they won.

“Travels and treats, I think that will complete what has already been started,” mentioned Francine Leclerc.

The Jimbo convenience store, located in La Pocatière, where the winning ticket was purchased, will pocket a commission of $10,000, equivalent to 1% of the winnings.
