Dakar hosted this Thursday, November 28, 2024, the official ceremony launching the candidacy of Amadou Hott for the presidency of the African Development Bank Group (AfDB). The event, of national and international scope, brought together a prestigious assembly: Madame Yassine Fall, Minister of African Integration and Foreign Affairs, ambassadors accredited to Senegal, representatives of international institutions, as well as economic players and social. Several Senegalese ministers also marked their presence to show their support for the candidate.
By presiding over the ceremony, Minister Yassine Fall underlined the strategic choice of Senegal for Amadou Hott. She insisted on the role of this candidacy in the country’s influence on the international scene, while highlighting the skills and experience of the candidate to lead an institution as strategic as the AfDB.
With more than 25 years of experience, Amadou Hott has held key positions, including that of Minister of Economy, Planning and Cooperation of Senegal between 2019 and 2022. Expert in investment banking, development banking , in the management of sovereign funds and the development of public policies, he embodies an ambitious vision for the AfDB. During his speech, he expressed his commitment to economic development and pan-African cooperation.
This official launch, organized in the Senegalese capital, is not limited to promoting the candidacy of Amadou Hott. It also aims to promote the image of Senegal as a key player in African cooperation and economic development. The Senegalese government thus demonstrates its ambition to play a leading role in the continent’s major strategic decisions.
