Rebelotte. While Toulouse is experiencing endless demonstrations, between VTCs, taxis, farmers and even agents of the Haute-Garonne Departmental Council, a new movement could well be added to the list of turmoil in the Pink City.
Second Monday of strike for Occitan train drivers
The CGT des Cheminots de Toulouse planned a new strike Monday December 2, 2024. “The SNCF received us, but it does not want to engage in dialogue,” indicates Sébastien Aïssou, union secretary. Those who had already initiated a movement on Monday, November 25, then found themselves “forced to renew social action”.
For several days, the train drivers of the former Midi-Pyrénées have been up in arms against the management of the 2025 transport plan for TER from Occitanie, which provides for a 24% increase in rail service with 11% additional staff.
“To satisfy its financial appetite, having economic performance and profitability as its sole objective, the SNCF TER Occitanie Management degrades the working conditions of drivers on a daily basis. For years, it has had a grossly understaffed workforce,” denounces the CGT.
New disruptions to expect
Still without response to its demands, the CGT union plans 24 hours of downtime this Monday, thus paralyzing many trains throughout the region, Toulouse including.
Last Monday,60% of railway workers were hired,” indicates Sébastien Aïssou of the CGT Cheminots de Toulouse. https://twitter.com/lio_train_sncf/status/1860715003386765784?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1860715003386765784%7Ctwgr%5E%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&ref_url=. “It will be at least the same number next Monday,” adds the trade unionist.
Determined, these railway workers called by the CGT could also renew their movement, depending on the decision of the General Assembly.
