“Crisis” or “inflation” are two words that do not reach the French when it comes to Christmas! Indeed, whatever the situation, they never intend to abstain from traditional Christmas shopping. While the majority today take advantage of Black Friday to buy gifts, the weeks leading straight to the end-of-year holidays still remain very red on the budget front. Fortunately, the Christmas bonus is here to help the most modest.

The significant Christmas bonus is making a comeback!

Christmas… This sweet period is also a significant drain on our bank accounts.

Since 1998, the Family Allowance Fund (CAF) and the Mutualité Sociale Agricole (MSA) pay the Christmas bonus automatically to beneficiaries of minimum social benefits.

Every year, more than two million people benefit from the Christmas bonus.

However, it is important to distinguish 2 bonuses:

– The Christmas bonus that CAF and MSA pour.
– The Christmas bonus that Travail (formerly Pôle Emploi) paid and which is also called “exceptional end-of-year assistance”.

What are its eligibility conditions?

This Christmas bonus is aimed at people in one of the following situations in November or, failing that, in December:

– The beneficiaries of the Basic Active Solidarity Income (RSA).
– The beneficiaries of the Basic RSA and activity bonus.
– And the beneficiaries of the Specific Solidarity Allowance (ASS)with a rate increase or not

The France Travail Christmas bonus

These are the people in one of the following situations in the month of November or failing that in the month of December who will receive the France Travail Christmas bonus:

– The beneficiaries of ACCRE (Aid for Business Creation) only if you were at ASS before.
– Beneficiariestraining remuneration paid by France Travail if it follows a payment of ASS.
– The beneficiaries of the Equivalent Retirement Allowance (AER).
– Beneficiaries of the fixed bonus for resumption of activity.
– And finally the beneficiaries of the Transitional Solidarity Bonus.

What are the different amounts?

The amounts of the Christmas bonus depend on your family situation. So, the number of children in your household, and whether you live alone or as a couple.

The lowest amount is 152.45 euros for a single person without children.

IF YOU LIVE ALONE
– Without dependent children, you will then receive a Christmas bonus of 152.45 euros
– with 1 dependent child, you will then receive 228.67 euros
– If you have 2 dependent children, you will then receive 274.41 euros
– with 3 dependent children, you will then receive 335.39 euros
– If you have 4 dependent children, you will then receive 396.37 euros
– with 5 dependent children you will then receive 457.35 euros

– without dependent children, you will then receive a Christmas bonus of 228.67 euros
– If you have 1 dependent child, you will then receive 274.41 euros
– With 2 dependent children, you will then receive 320.14 euros
– If you have 3 dependent children, you will then receive 381.12 euros
– With 4 dependent children, you will then receive 442.10 euros

However, if you have more than 5 children, you will then receive 60.98 euros more per additional child.

The Christmas bonus on what date?

It's now official! Indeed, according to an announcement from West France, the transfer of the Christmas bonus will take place on Friday December 13. But, due to inter-bank delays, beneficiaries will therefore see it appear in their bank account between December 14 and 16.

No increase for single-parent families

As indicated, a couple with 4 children, beneficiary of the RSA, will therefore receive 442.10 euros. If the government had taken inflation into account, this amount would have been 664.11 euros, or 222.01 euros.

Another bad news concerns the amount of this Christmas bonus. Indeed, as indicated MoneyVoxit is about the lack of help for single-parent families.

For the record, at the end of 2023, it was subject to an increase of 35% for 744,000 households. A single person receiving RSA with 4 children then received 535.10 euros, compared to 442.11 euros for a couple with 4 children, for example.

The office of the Ministry of Solidarity therefore confirmed not to repeat last year's gesture, selon MoneyVox.
