An AMOK type audible alarm went off Monday morning at the Grangeneuve Agricultural Institute (FR), causing panic in the establishment.
Students and staff at the Grangeneuve Agricultural Institute (FR) had a big scare on Monday morning, around 10:30 a.m., when an AMOK type alarm started to sound.
And for good reason: the triggering of an alarm of this type aims to signal the presence of a madman within the confines of a school establishment. Taken from the Malay word “amuk”, the term “Amok” means uncontrollable murderous rage.
False alarm
Several police patrols as well as members of the intervention group were quickly dispatched to the scene. And after checks, the police were able to reassure those present, some of whom had barricaded themselves: it was a false alarm.
“A technical fault is likely the cause of the alarm being triggered. At no time were the people present put in danger,” explains the Friborg police in a press release.
