Canada Post said Monday that it had processed nearly 10 million fewer packages than last year since the start of the national strike.

The strike by members of the Postal Workers Union is in its 11th year.e daytime.

In a press release published Monday, Canada Post estimates the number of packages will only increase as the strike continues and deplores that its network is “paralyzed” as Black Friday online shopping begins.

“The impacts continue to be felt across the country, and it is small businesses, charities and remote communities that are hardest hit,” said the Crown corporation, estimating that “people will look elsewhere to have their items delivered.

Deadlocked negotiations

Canada Post indicated that negotiations continued this weekend, “but [que] progress has been limited.

Discussions stumble on the question of salaries, social benefits, contractual staff and working conditions.

The management side notably offered its employees salary increases of 11.5% over four years, which is far from the union’s demands, which are 24% for the same period.
