It was presented in 2019 and immediately imposed as a reference stealing the show from the Renault Clio for three years. However, it was somewhat outpaced by its long-time rival in 2023.

That’s why at the start of the same year, the brand showed its claws by launching the restyled version of its city car. Unlike the Clio, Peugeot has not transformed its 208. However, the front end has evolved at the level of the grille, but it is above all the big LED claws extending under the most noticeable optics. In addition to gaining in size, there are now six of them.

At the rear, the modifications are much more subtle with revised light graphics and Peugeot lettering in place of the logo.

Inside, it’s the status quo, or almost. Peugeot didn’t see fit to review the design or the finish, which is of a decent standard. It’s the equipment that’s changing, particularly with the adoption of the latest i-Connect multimedia system smoother and more responsive. The rearview camera benefits from HD resolution, the instrument cluster is revised, the induction charger becomes more powerful (from 5W to 15W) and one of the two charging ports at the rear switches to USB C.

Under the hood, the diesel engine is being phased out, but a mild hybrid version (48V) is introduced in conjunction with the 100 and 136 hp PureTech engines. The combination of the 21 kW (28 hp) electric motor and the dual-clutch automatic transmission is called e-DSC6.

Also note that PureTech engines now use a timing chain instead of a belt after the problems experienced by many owners.

As for the electric, Peugeot adds a new offer to its catalog. In addition to the 136 hp engine and 50 kWh battery duo, another set is added with a 156 hp block and a 51 kWh battery. While the first displays 363 km of autonomy, the second goes further with 400 km.

Supply chains

The restyled 208 is no exception to the rule. Recently, in dealerships, it is mainly professionals who offer them on the second-hand market. Individuals do not represent that only 5% of sellers.

Three sites group together the majority of ads, sometimes with duplicates. La Centrale and Le Bon Coin are the best known, with just over 450 ads for the former. However, the Stellantis group has its own network, Spoticar, which brings together around 650 offers.
