Coca Cola ordered to recall one of its products due to health risks

The 33 cl cans of Coca-Cola Cherry distributed by the B&M brand in France have been the subject of a recall measure by the authorities due to a health risk, they announced on Saturday .

These cherry flavored Coca-Cola cans are under precautionary measure due to the presence of a dangerous chemical. “The inner coating of the can made of phenoxy resin is produced from Bisphenol A”according to the government website Rappel Conso.
Bisphenol A, banned in France since 2015 although it was previously used in the manufacture of canned goods and beverages, is an endocrine disruptor according to the French Food Safety Agency (ANSES). Bisphenol A is suspected of being linked to multiple disorders and diseases (breast cancer, infertility, etc.).

Recall Conso did not indicate how many cans are affected by the measure. The recall runs until August 27 and buyers can request a full refund.

“Coca-Cola France would like to clarify that this recall does not concern other Coca-Cola Cherry products which are sold in other points of sale in France” outside of B&M, the American company emphasized in a press release.

The recall concerns cans that were produced “outside France,” Coca-Cola said, and the products “manufactured and distributed throughout France by (its) local bottler, Coca-Cola Europacific Partners France, are not affected by this recall”.
