Coca-Cola cherry cans recalled across France

The government Rappel Conso website warns of the presence of Bisphenol A inside certain cans of cherry-flavored Coca-Cola. The drink in question is distributed by the B&M brand.

Please note, certain cans of Coca-Cola “cherry” (cherry flavor) should no longer be consumed. The government site RappelConso sent an alert to consumers on Friday, June 28, about 33 cl cans sold by B&M “throughout France”.

The lot concerned is as follows: N°08/02/2025 L09BBuyers are being asked to “stop consuming” the product and request a refund due to chemical contamination.

“The inner coating of the can in phenoxy resin is produced from Bisphenol A (or BPA, Editor’s note),” explains Rappel Conso.

An endocrine disruptor banned since 2012

As indicated by the French Agency for Food, Environmental and Occupational Health Safety (ANSES), since 2012, a law has prohibited “the manufacture, import, export and placing on the market of any food packaging containing BPA”.

The agency points out in a note a risk particularly during consumption by pregnant women and for the unborn child.

“No BPA could thus be responsible for the appearance of reproductive disorders (infertility), metabolism (obesity, diabetes), thyroid dysfunctions or even hormone-dependent cancers (breast, prostate), wrote the Ministry of Health again in 2023 about this endocrine disruptor.

This recall procedure is effective immediately and extends until August 27, 2024.
