what prices for one of the most modular utility vehicles on the market?

At Volkswagen, the utility range lives, in , in the shadow of the two behemoths that are Renault and Stellantis. In the small models section, we find in particular the Volkswagen Caddy, a model which was renewed a few months ago and which is even available as a plug-in hybrid. It is the equivalent of a Renault Kangoo or even a Peugeot Rifter.

A gigantic chest in the blink of an eye

Designed as both a MPV and a utility vehicle depending on the version, Volkswagen launched a Flexible version a few weeks ago. The objective is simple: to combine the best of both worlds, with the possibility of having a vehicle with two or five seats, but also a stratospheric loading volume by removing the rear seat.

This Flexible version is based on the Caddy Cargo, reserved for professionals. It is only available with the Maxi version, that is to say the one with a long wheelbase. In fact, the seats in the second row, fixed to the partition, can unfold, allowing you to switch to a two or five seat configuration. Enough to enlarge the loading compartment in a few seconds, and thus increase to 3,100 dm3 thanks also to a modular partition. Up to two pallets can even be loaded one behind the other, as on models without bench seat. The cargo space is also accessible through the two sliding doors.

An offer limited to two diesel engines

This Flexible version is only offered with two diesel engines in France: the 102 hp four-cylinder 2.0 TDI combined with a six-speed manual gearbox and the 122 hp 2.0 TDI paired with a seven-speed DSG double-clutch automatic transmission. reports.© Volkswagen

Serious endowment

Regarding prices, it will cost €35,200 for a Business finish with the 102 hp engine, and €38,500 for the more powerful version. At this price level, the equipment is rather generous, since the Business finish includes, as standard, the Technical Pack (side and curtain airbags for the driver and passenger), the Front Assist system, lane keeping assistance, the reversing camera, the multifunction steering wheel, the tire condition monitoring system, the sliding doors on the right and left in the load/passenger compartment, the rear seat that folds as a unit to convert it into a partition, the system digital instrumentation “Digital Cockpit Pro”, cruise control and speed limiter, wireless App-Connect, air conditioning and a 10-inch touch screen.
