CFF trains late in the Lausanne region: traffic restored

“It was bor***. My train was canceled and the next one was delayed. In short, I arrived late for work,” sighs a Bussignolaise. Many trains were canceled or delayed Monday morning in the Lausanne region. The CFF speaks of “exceptional work” at Renens station (VD). Replacement buses have been put in place between Bussigny and Renens.

Traffic was never completely interrupted. But instead of five lanes available, only one was available this Monday morning. Enough to cause disruption. “I took the 7:11 a.m. train to Lausanne at Saint-Prex, but it stopped at Morges. There, all passengers had to get out to change trains due to a “technical problem”. It was crowded and it took a while to arrive safely. And it was so hot in the train!” laments another commuter.

CFF spokesperson Jean-Philippe Schmidt specifies that this situation is due to a delay in work carried out during the weekend at Renens station. “It was a replacement of switches that we had announced with timetable adjustments. The work was supposed to be finished overnight, but some finishing touches were delayed,” explains the manager. Rail traffic has been restored, the SBB announced around 11 a.m., adding that disruptions and delays were still expected.
