It’s one of the most fascinating mysteries of the beginning of the 21st century: how did the individual who created a computer program that profoundly disrupted global finance manage to stay off the radar for fifteen years? In an increasingly connected world, characterized by constant transparency, this ability to remain anonymous is fertile ground for all kinds of theories. Many people would like to know who is behind Satoshi Nakamoto, the pseudonym of the creator – or creator – of Bitcoin. This is especially true since the price of cryptocurrency has continued to break records since the re-election of Donald Trump as president of the United States.
It all started with the publication, on October 31, 2008, of a white paper presenting a new form of digital currency. Titled Bitcoin: a peer-to-peer electronic payment systemthe document explains on eight pages the technical elements of this unique network. The author, a certain Satoshi Nakamoto, claims that his proposal solves the problem of double spending, that is to say the possibility of making several payments with the same amount.
