will the current trend continue until the summer holidays?

Preparing your summer vacation involves establishing a budget adapted to the nature of the stay, its duration and the destination. In this regard, fuel costs, for those who choose to go by car, are very significant. We must therefore remain attentive to price trends in pumps.

The start of the vacation period generally depends on the end of the school year, which this year is July 6. To ward off any unpleasant surprises, French people who choose to use their cars during the holidays are already observing fuel price trends.

If refueling the unleaded 98 cost around 90 euros on average in April, this month of June it costs around 84 euros, a saving of six euros. In the short term, this week, prices are experiencing a slight increase with unleaded 98 selling at 1.936 euros per liter, while diesel is sold at the pump at a price of 1.754 euros per liter. These prices, although slightly higher than those of the previous week, still remain lower than the prices charged in previous months. This allows us to note a relative stability in the price range before the summer holidays.

Fluctuations in fuel prices are in fact linked to dependence on the evolution of international oil prices. In this regard, precisely, the situation remains relatively stable following the signing of the agreement between OPEC and Russia on the limitation of production until the end of 2025, despite the few signs of nervousness noted on the markets by the war in Ukraine.

“As the curves are supported by the increase in demand and by the OPEC agreements so that there is no surplus, prices remain firm”, explains, on this subject, Olivier Gantois, president of the French Union of Petroleum Industries (Ufip). Also, if these geopolitical factors remain as they are, fuel prices are not likely to experience significant changes.

Will going on vacation impact fuel prices?

Fluctuations in fuel prices at the pump could be influenced by internal factors, such as holidays. The increase in car use during this period could, in fact, lead to an increase in demand and, consequently, an increase in prices at the pump.

Also, it is recommended that vacationers who decide to use their cars remain attentive to changes in prices at the pump and find the best places to find cheaper fuel. There are also points of sale which offer competitive prices. You just need to spot them by comparing the prices of gas stations in each region or along their route.
