Elon Musk is recruiting. Just days after being named head of a brand new department dedicated to “government efficiency,” the world's richest man has embarked on a recruiting drive to fill the ministry's ranks, through its own social network, X.
“tedious work” without pay
Two days after the creation of the “Department of Government Efficiency” (DOGE) account, it has already accumulated more than 1.4 million subscribers, who were able to read the call from the boss of Tesla and SpaceX. “We are very grateful to the thousands of Americans who have expressed interest in helping us at DOGE,” Elon Musk wrote.
But the criteria for hoping to be able to collaborate with the businessman are very specific: “We need libertarian revolutionaries with very high IQs ready to work more than 80 hours a week on thankless budget cuts.”
A job that is actually unpaid, as the South African himself states on his profile. “Indeed, it will be tedious work, you will make many enemies and the compensation is zero.” “A good deal!” he concluded.
No need for an email address or a cover letter: the ministry expects a plethora of CVs directly in the private messages of this account X. “If you feel concerned, send a private message to this account with your CV. Elon and Vivek will evaluate the top 1% of candidates.
But, there is one condition for this first contact: agreeing to pay a “premium” subscription to X of around ten euros in order to have access to private messages, enough to make this call profitable.
2,000 billion dollars in savings
Omnipresent throughout Donald Trump's electoral campaign, Elon Musk was appointed to this Ministry of Government Effectiveness this Tuesday, November 12, alongside Vivek Ramaswamy.
According to a statement from the future president of the United States, the two men will be responsible for “dismantling government bureaucracy, reducing excessive regulations, cutting wasteful spending, and restructuring federal agencies.”
Ultimately, Musk and Ramaswamy hope to save the new American government $2,000 billion, out of a federal budget of $6,750 billion (or €1,884 billion out of €6,360 billion).
