Onem announces a big change for the temporary unemployment control card from January 1

From January 1, it will be mandatory to electronically complete the temporary unemployment control card (eC3.2), Onem said on Friday. The paper version will disappear.

This electronic control card has existed since 2018 and has been available to all workers since September 2023, provided that an agreement has been reached with the employer on this subject. After seven years of use, it will become the only one used to complete, consult and manage the formalities relating to the application for temporary unemployment benefits.

The digital card is already used by more than 5,000 companies and more than 30,000 workers.

A transition period is planned between January 1 and June 30, 2025 for “give everyone the opportunity to adapt“The employer can thus request to use the paper card for another six months for all its employees.”if digitalization required more preparation time for its workers“, specifies Onem.

A worker who faces difficulties using the application may also request a temporary exemption, provided that he informs his employer who will also have to continue the paper procedure.

The obligation to use the electronic control card does not apply to sheltered workshops, social workshops and adapted companies, points out Onem. In these sectors, the choice will remain possible between the paper and electronic procedure.
