Many manufacturers aim to offer “an electric vehicle for €25,000”. This price clearly has high symbolic value for them, while the public would probably want something even cheaper. But either, after the 150 hp version, with 52 kWh battery, offered from €29,490 bonus deducted, Renault is expanding the range “downwards” by introducing a new engine, a new battery and a new finish.
Not yet…
This new finish, called “Evolution”, is the most basic at the moment. It offers the essentials, such as automatic air conditioning, reversing radar, classic driving aids, 6 airbags, smartphone replication on the central screen, etc. What is missing (aluminum rims, charging indicator on the hood, wireless charger for smartphones, driving “atmospheres”, etc.), we can easily do without.
The only real drawback: fast charging at only 80 kW, compared to 100 kW for the top finish. With this finish, the 120 hp engine and the 40 kWh battery announcing 300 km WLTP, the starting price is €23,990 bonus deducted. We are therefore not yet at the famous €25,000 excluding bonus, but Renault has not said its last word. I promise, the version at this price (and even a little less) will arrive in 2025, with the small battery, 95 hp, and an even more refined Five finish.
