The Ecole des sables is organizing a casting this Saturday at the Thiès Cultural Center. According to the structure founded by Germaine Acogny, this activity is part of the implementation of the “Air de temps dance training program”.

It is in this context that the structure directed by Germaine Acogny and based in Toubab Dialaw, in the department of Rufisque, initiated an approach entitled “Air de temps dance training program”. To this end, the Ecole des sables is carrying out, tomorrow, Saturday June 22, a casting of dancers at the Thiès Regional Cultural Center. According to the terms of a press release from the Ecole des sables received by the newspaper Le Quotidien, the structure informs: “The Air de temps training project will extend throughout the Senegalese territory. The 25 selected dancers will be invited to participate in an intensive 8-week internship at the Ecole des sables in 2025. Those most committed to entrepreneurship will also benefit from the cultural incubator, with monitoring of their project for regional establishment in the field of traditional and contemporary dance.”
In detail, we note that the Air de temps training program is as follows: a “selection and (the) training of 40 Senegalese dancers and the diaspora” is carried out. These will be “immersed at the Ecole des sables, Toubab Dialaw”. This was preceded by an “8-week intensive training: from April 28 to June 13, 2025”. The objective of this initiative is to “allow dancers to explore the art of interpretation within the creation Air de temps, under the artistic direction of Alesandra Seutin and Wesley Ruzibiza, with guest speakers”.
During this casting, it is also planned, announce the organizers of the meeting, “the presentation of a short version (25 minutes) at the Regional Cultural Center of Thiès on Saturday June 22 at 5 p.m., with the dancers of the Jant Company -Bi II, after the casting of the dancers. “To Senegalese dancers”, informs the press release from the Ecole des sables, the Air de temps training program “offers an exceptional opportunity to train with renowned artists in the field of dance and art, while ‘immersing yourself in a rich and stimulating cultural environment’. “This program aims to develop versatile performers, capable of creating their own regional projects and boosting the cultural scene in Senegal,” it is further announced.
