BusPass is a company that installs terminals equipped with a camera where the number of users is counted.
They will therefore allow municipalities to see if certain bus lines are often used in order to optimize the public transportation network.
If the City notices that the stop is rarely used, then they may move it or remove it.
It is also indicated on the sign the time at which the next bus will pass.
“The citizens themselves, sometimes, we have no idea whether the bus passed or not,” underlines the vice-president of BusPass, Wissem Maazoun, on Friday.
Currently, the towns of Sainte-Julie and Sainte-Thérèse have approved the installation of these terminals as a pilot project.
Moreover, a report released Thursday states that transportation companies in Quebec could make savings of $350 million per year.
