The Standing Committee of the National Assembly of the 15the legislature agreed Thursday, June 13 to maintain the 2% reduction in value added tax (VAT) on certain goods and services from 1er July to the end of the year in order to support recovery and socio-economic development.

During the 34e current session of the Standing Committee, Vice President of the National Assembly Nguyen Thi Thanh stressed that maintaining the tax incentive from 10 to 8 percent will boost domestic consumption while encouraging businesses to maintain and develop their activities.

Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly Tran Duc Hai asked the government to collect opinions from the committee and inspection agencies to finalize the draft resolution on tax reduction before submitting it for review. National Assembly for consideration.

The government should ensure that the tax cut does not affect state budget revenues or forecast excess spending this year, he added.

During the event, MPs also gave their opinions on the amendments to the draft law on the management and use of weapons, explosives and auxiliary tools, which, according to them, should include specific articles on the management and the use of highly lethal knives.
