The E.Leclerc group has announced the recall of a batch of whole raw and frozen shrimp. The sheet published this Thursday mentions contamination with so-called “flesh-eating” bacteria.

Several months of distribution. Leclerc published this Thursday on the government site Rappel Conso a sheet announcing that a reference of raw frozen shrimp is contaminated by bacteria vibrio vulnificusalso called “flesh-eating bacteria”.

The recall could potentially concern a large number of consumers since Rappel Conso mentions marketing in Leclerc stores throughout between July 24 and November 7, 2024.

The Eco+ brand product comes in a 400g box, identified under batch number 3L15 and with a minimum durability expiration date of November 30, 2025.

A potentially deadly bacteria

The recall sheet mentions the presence of vibrio vulnificuswhich can turn out to be harmful to consumers. Foodborne illnesses caused by these bacteria can occasionally result in mild gastrointestinal disorders in healthy individuals, but also in severe non-intestinal disorders (generalized infections or even septicemia), in susceptible people or suffering from pre-existing chronic conditions.

“Moreover, skin infections are likely to occur from pre-existing injuries when handling products,” specifies the government platform.

The recall procedure will end on Tuesday January 7, 2025.
