Advice: aperitif, hors d’oeuvre, Caesar salad, grilled vegetables, pierrade, quiche, pie.

Kwaaihoek Reserve Western Cape

Kwaaihoek is located east of Cape Town (South Africa), on the mouth of the Bushman River, right next to the small village of Alexandria. This is where Portuguese navigators first set foot on land in the 14th century. The place is very preserved and the cellar which produces this wine, on this mountainous peninsula of Kwaaihoek, does so sustainably. Chenin, the main grape variety, brings its crunchy acidity, while Viognier and Roussanne reinforce its delicious fruitiness. It is a simple wine, rich on the nose and on the palate, crisp and delicious, but above all easy to drink.

Spar at €7.49

Advice: aperitif, seafood, tomato with shrimp, fish skewers.

Gérard Bertrand Heresy Corbières

Gérard Bertrand always has an idea in mind when he creates vintages. This is a tribute to the Cathars who left a lasting mark in the Corbières massif. To express all the dimensions of this terroir, he chose Syrah for the spicy pep, Mourvèdre for the richness of the licorice and Grenache for the roundness and chewiness. On the nose, this wine directly reveals a certain aromatic and also alcoholic power. On the palate, it is extremely well balanced and the velvety texture of its tannins on the finish makes this wine very comforting.

Carrefour at €8.99

Advice: wild duck with turnips, pheasant fillet with green pepper sauce, St-Hubert wild boar chops, rack of lamb roasted with honey and thyme.

Ernesto del Palacio DO Toro 2021

Tasty, ample and powerful, this red wine was aged for 9 months in American oak barrels. Which gives it, on the nose and palate, notes of vanilla, caramel and especially coconut. If we ignore the woodiness, we will appreciate its black fruit jam side which is somewhat typical of the tinta de Toro grape variety, which is nothing other than tempranillo, the only grape variety authorized in the DO Toro. This appellation is worth the detour for the high quality of its wines. It is located 150 km north of Madrid, next to the Ribera del Duero vineyard, between Soria, Burgos and Valladolid, along the Duero.

Corawine.be at €7.99

Advice: pasta carbonara, veal sauté with chorizo, paella royale, couscous.
