The CEO of Air Algérie revealed the delivery schedule for the 15 new planes ordered from Airbus and Boeing and announced a new project to strengthen the fleet of the national airline.

“We have ordered 15 planes from Airbus and Boeing. The delivery schedule will begin in June 2025. We will receive the first Airbus A330-900, two more aircraft of this type will be received in September and October 2025. The rest of the aircraft will be delivered from 2026, with the receipt of an A330-900. In 2027, we will take delivery of 8 Boeing 737 Max aircraft,” he explained in an interview with the media. Air Algérie, which will have a fleet of 70 commercial aircraft with the receipt of the 15 aircraft ordered, is considering strengthening its fleet with the acquisition of new aircraft.

Air Algérie plans to double its fleet by 2040

“We have started to develop a project to acquire new devices in the medium and long term. Our teams are working to finalize a development and modernization program for the Air Algérie network. From this program, we will define the number, type and capacity of aircraft that we will acquire by 2035 and 2040,” explained Hamza Benhamouda.

According to the same media, Air Algérie plans to acquire 35 new planes by 2040.

Furthermore, Hamza Benhamouda indicated that the company’s objective is to “transport more than 7.4 million passengers” in 2024. “We can increase this figure relatively in 2025,” he said, but it “ we have to wait for the arrival of the new planes ordered to grow it.”

“We are working on the development of domestic lines to strengthen domestic flights and support the development of these regions, with the acquisition of new regional transport aircraft,” added Mr. Benhamouda.
