It was announced: since last Monday, many Belgians must have received a letter reminding them of their obligation.
In total, no fewer than 400,000 Belgians are affected.
So, what are we talking about?
In Flanders, owners of photovoltaic panels must definitely say goodbye to their analog meter which runs backwards. The postponements are well and truly over. To do this, they will therefore have to initiate the necessary administrative procedures. An obligation which, otherwise, could cost them dearly. If people continue to refuse or if we have difficulty making appointments with them, this could lead to legal action in the final phase,” said network manager spokesperson Lara Lammens. The digital meter should make it easier for families to control their energy consumption. The manager hopes to have replaced all the old meters by the end of 2025.
In Wallonia, prosumers, as they are called, can, however, continue to benefit from a counter that runs backwards, even if they have switched to digital.
