Snow tires
Between November 1, 2024 and March 31, 2025, it is once again compulsory to equip your vehicle with winter tires or to have snow chains or socks, in a selection of municipalities in the mountainous areas, including part of the Moselle. . But this year, only one snow tire standard will be authorized.
In this case, snow tires only marked “M+S” will no longer be tolerated. Only “3PMSF” tires will be accepted as equivalent to the chains. The purchase and use of other snow or 4-season tires will therefore remain possible, but it will then be necessary to have chains to be able to travel with it in these areas. Vehicles wearing studded tires are exempt from equipment obligations.
Like last year, 34 departments (including two Lorraine departments) are subject to this obligation, mainly in the Alps, Corsica, the Massif Central, the Jura and the Pyrenees.
Sickle cell disease screened in all newborns
The sickle cell anemiaa genetic disease with potentially serious effects, could be screened in all newborns from November 1while this test was until now targeted in mainland France but generalized overseas, the Ministry of Health announced on Tuesday.
This generalization was recommended by the High Health Authority at the end of 2022, “considering that sickle cell disease is the most common genetic disease at birth, that its incidence is increasing and that this pathology is responsible for high morbidity and a significant reduction in survival”recalled the general directorate of health in a press release.
Sickle cell anemia, a hereditary blood disease affecting red blood cells, manifests itself, among other things, by anemiaof the painful crises and a increased risk of infections. Its repercussions can be serious: it is, for example, the leading cause of stroke in children.
“The number of children screened with sickle cell syndrome has increased in recent years, from 431 newborns screened in 2016 to 684 in 2022”noted the ministry.
Screening at birth allows immediate treatment to alleviate symptoms and avoid complications.
Very slight drop in gas prices
According to the benchmark gas sales price published for November by the Energy Regulatory Commission, a small price drop is expected from November 1. Allow, on average, €0.10932 per kWh for heating (€0.11062 in October) and €0.13830 per kWh for cooking and hot water (€0.13960 in October).
Winter break begins
The winter break begins this Friday, November 1: until March 31, tenants cannot be evicted from their accommodation. Despite this system, evictions reached a record level last year, which could rise further.
During this period, the law prohibits evicting the vast majority of tenants from their accommodation. In short, even if an expulsion judgment has been pronounced, its implementation is suspended.
There are a few cases in which the truce does not apply: if the tenant has a rehousing solution adapted to their needs or if the person lives in a squat. Please note, a person can also be expelled during this period by court decision in the event of domestic violence or against a child.
This truce also concerns electricity and gas : for five months, energy suppliers cannot interrupt their services.
