More than 600 Naval Group employees in Brest walked off the job this Tuesday, June 4, 2024, between 8 a.m. and noon. They paraded through the arsenal before meeting at Porte Cafarelli. They responded to the national call from the CGT, CFDT, Unsa and CFE-CGC organizations of the French industrial group as part of the negotiation of a new company agreement. It was the second action, after a first demonstration on May 24.

“This goes beyond salary demands. It is the entire social model of Naval Group that management wants to call into question,” indicates Rémy Déduyer, head of the CFE-CGC section of Naval Group Brest. The agreement was terminated at the end of 2023.

Possibility of other actions in the future

“We all agree that management is playing provocation with its proposals,” adds Jean-Baptiste Ngyuen, Unsa general secretary. “It’s very brutal,” adds Patrice Prémel, head of the CFDT section. “It is also a problem of attractiveness and loyalty of Naval Group employees.”

For its part, management specifies that it wishes to reach an agreement and that it has “heard the concerns of the unions regarding the salary scale and the possibilities for career development”. National level meetings are being held this Tuesday and tomorrow, Wednesday.

Union officials said they were satisfied with the mobilization and were considering “other actions if the negotiations were not successful”, specifies Emmanuelle Le Corre, CGT deputy general secretary of the Brest arsenal.
