Google announced a series of new features for its navigation application, including the integration of Gemini to suggest exit ideas to users.

Concretely, they will soon be able to ask the chatbot for help in planning an activity. If a user tells him, for example, that he is looking for something to do in the evening with his friends, Gemini can suggest that he go to a bar. It will also be possible to find out more about a particular location by reading an AI-generated summary of reviews.

These functions will first be deployed in the United States, starting this week on iOS and Android. Google also plans to offer similar experiences on its search engine in the coming months.

“Plan the perfect trip”

While waiting for the arrival of these functions in , another will arrive on Google Maps next week and throughout the world. It aims to take the stress out of driving by making the journey easier from start to finish.

Concretely, once a user has obtained their itinerary, they can press “add stops” in order to see attractions, picturesque sites or even restaurant options.

Google Maps will also be able to help users anticipate certain situations, such as junctions or exits. During their journey, they will be able to see a blue line in the lane markings on the app to know exactly which lane they should be in. This function will also be available to all users from next week.
