In Salé, the Minister of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development, Leila Benali, pleaded for the establishment of an integrated and agile ecosystem to promote the development of e-fuels in Morocco during an international conference on e-fuels. -fuels.

During her speech, the minister underlined the importance of establishing a conducive environment including research and development, innovation, infrastructure, and the necessary human capital, reports the weekly Eco Life.

The Minister of Energy Transition also insisted on the need to accelerate certification and standardization processes to avoid bottlenecks and reduce the risks linked to the trade of e-fuels in the face of carbon adjustment mechanisms.

“Thanks to its strategic geographic position, Morocco can play a key role in the global e-fuel value chains, particularly through its offer in green hydrogen, the development of renewable projects and partnership with the private sector.“, said Benali.

For his part, the Minister of Industry and Trade, Ryad Mezzour, returned to the crucial importance of cost in the viability of e-fuels, noting that, “Even with appropriate regulations and supports, projected costs must be realistic for these technologies to be adopted at scale.”

By addressing the logistical challenges linked to the transport and storage of hydrogen and the need to capture CO2 to produce e-fuels, the minister insisted on the importance of collective intelligence to find sustainable solutions.

Also speaking at this event, the president of the Green H2 Cluster, Mohamed Yahya Zniber, for his part, returned to the infrastructure needs to generate, transport, store and distribute the electricity necessary for the production of large volumes of e-fuels, emphasizing the importance of developing regulatory texts for the deployment of this industry.
