Restoration: The end for a true institution in the Saint-Sauveur district

A Quebec restaurant opened in 1982 will permanently close its doors on December 29.

After more than 42 years, Kyran-Ô, a true institution on rue Marie-de-l’Incarnation, between Saint-Vallier Ouest and Montmartre, will stop serving its legendary pizza.

The pizzeria in the Saint-Sauveur district, which also serves hamburgers and poutine, offers forty seats, deliveries and take-out orders.

“It is with a heavy heart, but in peace, that we must announce this news to you,” wrote in a long message Matice Langevin, who bought from her parents a few years ago. The building was sold and the family simply decided to move on.

Efforts

On site, the 29-year-old young man does not hide his emotions. We feel that he and those close to him have given a lot of time and love to the company.

“My parents had invested a lot and their pension fund is here. They held it at arm’s length and I took over. We decided to sell and our neighbor bought. It’s not the scenario I wanted, but it was the most interesting for us,” confided the restaurateur.

The most loyal customers quickly heard the bad news. The business even mentions that they have watched children grow and age for four decades.

“It’s the best pizza. It pains us a lot and we will come back until the end,” said Serge Bouchard, who regularly leaves Cap-Rouge to come and taste his favorite pizza.

Emotions

Matice Langevin doesn’t know what he will do in 2025, but he will do his part until the last day. During the heatwaves of summer, he never skimped on a pizza oven and a fryer.

“It’s a lot of sadness. I worked for the previous owner. I learned here and there is a lot of history. We have a very good clientele and it’s rare to last this long. Succession and transition is not easy. I’m going to get back into business, I’ve been bitten by the bug,” added Mr. Langevin.

“I’ve been here for ten years,” said Johanne Nolin, also a very emotional employee.

For the next ten weeks, the team would like to thank those who would like to order one last “Kyran-Ô”.
