Colruyt suppliers will use the same platform to provide data on their products from July 1.

“This is an important step in our collaboration with suppliers,” explains Dimitri Sonck, head of the retail product information sector within the group.

Currently, the retailer receives product data from its customers through different channels, whether emails, Excell tables or various platforms. This method causes errors and delays, hence the choice to group all the data on the same platform, called GS1, explains Retail Detail.

“We are seeing the same exercise at other retailers. Everyone wants simplicity and quality data,” says Jan Somers, CEO of GS1 Belgilux.

“A completely exceptional incident that has never happened before”: ALDI, Colruyt, Carrefour, Delhaize, Spar… stores across the country are withdrawing bread from sale

Colruyt is, however, the first Belgian retailer that will exclusively use GS1 as a Source for the exchange of master data.

The group is currently organizing training with its suppliers to ensure that this change is successful as soon as it comes into force.
