FRANKFURT (dpa-AFX) – The Dax reached a new record high at the start of the session on Tuesday, before quickly losing momentum. The flagship German index closed down 0.11% at 19,486.19 points, after reaching the highest level in its history in the morning at nearly 19,634 points. On the other hand, the MDax of mid-caps increased on Tuesday by 0.15% to 26,935.00 points.
The market attributed this drop in morale to the fact that the United States is considering limiting the sale of cutting-edge artificial intelligence chips to certain countries in the interests of national security. Additionally, chip supplier ASML, which saw disappointing orders, is less optimistic about 2025, leading to a collapse in its shares and weighing on chip values worldwide.
The economic forecasts of German financial experts for the month of October have improved a little more than expected. Over the previous three months, the ZEW indicator had fallen significantly.
