(Ecofin Agency) – This new fleet is intended to expand the Royal Air Maroc network. With 5 million passengers handled in 2023, the company currently ranks 2th rank of the main African air carriers behind Ethiopian which recorded a flow of 13.8 million travelers.

Royal Air Maroc will receive 11 planes before the end of 1er quarter 2025, including 2 Boeing 787 Dreamliners and 9 Boeing 737 MAX 9s, reports Media 24. This new fleet will be deployed on several routes to Africa, Europe, China and Brazil.

The order was placed before the signing of the program contract which plans to quadruple the carrier’s fleet by 2037. As part of this major plan, RAM launched a call for tenders to acquire 200 aircraft from 4 manufacturers, namely Boeing, Airbus, Embraer and ATR. The order will mainly include medium-haul, but also long and short-haul.

The company is positioned as a major pillar of the program developed by the Moroccan government to boost several sectors such as civil aviation and tourism. The broad outlines of the announced outlook indicate that the Shereef kingdom expects 17.5 million tourists in 2026 compared to 12 million in 2023, which should generate 12 billion USD in revenue.a
