The American technology group Oracle will strengthen its commitment to research and development (R&D) by expanding its activities in Morocco, where its workforce will be increased to 1,000 highly qualified young talents, specialized in information technologies.

This strategic expansion comes following an agreement signed Thursday in San Francisco, hub of technological innovation in the United States, by the Minister Delegate in charge of Digital Transition and Administration Reform, Ghita Mezzour and the President and CEO of Oracle, Safra Catz, to consolidate links and commitment to innovation in Morocco.

It is also about catalyzing the advancement of cutting-edge technologies developed by Oracle, intended to address the challenges faced by its customers on a global scale, according to a joint press release.

The signing ceremony took place in the presence of the Minister Delegate in charge of Investment, Convergence and Evaluation of Public Policies, Mohcine Jazouli, and the Director General of the Moroccan Agency for Investment and Export Development (AMDIE), Ali Seddiki.

This ambitious project “is part of the strategic and global royal vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, who called for encouraging the innovation and creativity of Moroccan youth,” underlined Ghita Mezzour.

“In this cutting-edge center, young Moroccans will be at the forefront of the design and development of innovative solutions, covering the latest technologies such as artificial intelligence, big data, cloud computing and cybersecurity,” noted the minister. For her, these solutions will be deployed on a global scale, thus strengthening Morocco’s position as a regional digital hub.

For her part, the Oracle CEO said that Oracle’s R&D center in Casablanca “has already played a crucial role in creating technical breakthroughs, improving cybersecurity and deploying new AI capabilities impactful”.

“By expanding our R&D presence in Morocco, we can further leverage its talent pool to accelerate the development of solutions that help our global clients grow their businesses and succeed in their sectors,” Ms. Catz underlined in the joint press release.

Oracle’s expansion, a first of its kind in Africa and the 8th in the world, comes following the opening of its development center at Parc Casanearshore in Casablanca. At this center, engineers and researchers develop Oracle cloud computing, artificial intelligence, and machine learning technologies to address the most pressing challenges facing businesses, scientific research, and the public sector across the world. world.

According to the press release, around 40% of the jobs created will be distributed outside the regions of Greater Casablanca and Rabat-Salé-Kénitra, with the aim of creating professional opportunities across the Kingdom.

This approach provides, it is indicated, for the opening of new Oracle offices in Agadir this year, as well as in the North of the Kingdom over the next two years.
