A mother from Washington state created an uproar on TikTok by revealing she demanded $36 from the parents of her son’s friend after he came to play with her boy at home.

Brianna Weimar, 33, asked people online if she was wrong to send a request via the mobile payment app Venmo, in which she asks the mother of the other child to reimburse her for every expense incurred by the visit of the young boy at Mrs. Weimar’s house.

Visibly stunned by this request, the other mother replied: “We have received “your invoice”. $36 for snacks and supplies? Seriously? I hope you like your little price gouging system. Thank you for your “hospitality”.”

This reaction greatly surprised Brianna Weimar, who described it as “rude”.

“I don’t think I’m in the wrong, but read these text messages and tell me what you think,” she asked Internet users.

The 33-year-old mother explains that she wrote down everything that her son’s friend used in order to estimate the cost of this visit. In particular, she counted everything the other child ate and drank, but also the number of pumps of soap made to wash their hands.

“They played video games for 45 minutes, so I calculated the electricity cost of that activity and divided it by two,” she also says.

Brianna Weimar also mentions that her son’s friend spilled juice on a carpet, so she charged a cleaning fee which includes the products used, but also the time it took to clean up the mess.

Here are all the costs she claimed from the other mother:

1- Bag of crackers: $3

2- Drinkable yogurt: $2

3- Three pumps of soap: $1

4- Two small juices: $4

5- Ten minutes of using felt-tip pens: $2

6- 45 minutes of electricity for video games: $5

7- Two sticks of “beef kerky” type dried meat: $6

8- An ice cream bar: $3

9- Carpet cleaning fee: $10

Total: $36

The mother of two children claims to have started to “bill” the parents of the other children who came to her house due to the rising cost of living.

She even created a spreadsheet to estimate the costs of each activity and food consumed, while ensuring that prices were fair.

“Food is getting more and more expensive. I was constantly buying snacks for my kids after their friends came over,” says Weimar.

If the mother saw her approach being supported by several Internet users, it also generated a shower of criticism.

“Visits from friends foster friendships. Friendships are not transactional. This was not justified,” one person wrote.

“A perfect way to destroy all your son’s friendships,” said another user.

“I consider that when I have people over, I am paying for dinner, wine, movies, snacks, toys, etc. I hope the same thing if my child or I are invited somewhere,” says another TikTok user.
