The American online sales giant Amazon has announced that it will invest 8.4 billion euros over the next four years in Singapore to increase its cloud capabilities.
Amazon indicated that the amount of its investments in the city-state would thus be doubled in order to meet the growing demand for the cloud, that is to say remote data storage, and to strengthen its activities related to artificial intelligence. “AWS (Amazon Web Services) to double its investments in cloud infrastructure in Singapore from 2024 to 2028 to meet customer demand and help strengthen Singapore’s status as an attractive regional launchpad for innovation”the company said in a statement.
The company created by Jeff Bezos announced last week that its revenue and net profit grew beyond market expectations in the first quarter, thanks in part to its cloud arm, AWS, which capitalized on the appetite companies for remote computing and artificial intelligence (AI) services.
