Problem: passengers saw large flames under the wing of the Boeing 737-800 during takeoff at 8:35 a.m. Fortunately, no one was injured after this incident.

Ryanair plane forced to make emergency landing following violent fight: ‘It was like a flight through hell’

Initial reports indicate the fire was sparked by a problem with the engine. The plane was therefore stopped on the tarmac while once the fire was brought under control, the passengers and six crew members were evacuated on an inflatable slide. After a three-hour suspension, the airport was able to reopen its doors.

“An immediate hearing on Ryanair flight safety”

This technical problem could therefore have been much more serious. Obviously, the airline is still in the sights. “A new accident has occurred, yet another, on board a Ryanair plane,” commented Andrea Caroppo, vice-president of the Transport Commission to Corriere Della Serra. “An urgent hearing will be requested with a focus on the safety of flights of Ryanair, which is the leading carrier in Italy for passenger traffic.”

Recently, another incident affected a Ryanair plane in Bergamo. “Fortunately, there were no injuries, but this is the second accident in a few days involving the Irish company. Only 2 days ago, the tires of a plane exploded upon landing in Bergamo : No one was injured, but the airport was closed for hours.”

For its part, the airline apologized. “We offer our most sincere apologies to the passengers concerned for this delay,” she explained to our Italian colleagues.
