BCP – TMPA: Signature of the first “Blockchain Payment Gateway” contract serving the port and logistics ecosystem

The Banque Centrale Populaire (BCP) and Tanger Med Port Authority (TMPA) signed on Friday September 27, 2024 the first contract for the use of the “Blockchain Payment Gateway” platform which serves the port and logistics ecosystem.

This signature, which comes on the sidelines of BCP’s participation in Tangier Logistics Days, marks the commitment of TMPA and the BCP group to continuously develop innovative and efficient payment solutions to serve operators in the port ecosystem. It also announces the generalization of the solution to target importer, freight forwarder and carrier customers.

During the ceremony organized as part of this signing, Mr. Kamal MOKDAD declared: “ This first operation is a real lever to accelerate the development of the port economy. The BCP group and Tanger Med Port Authority wanted to make Blockchain and new technologies around payment a real lever to strengthen the excellence and competitiveness of the national and regional port system. BCP is proud to have contributed to this technological advancement and to support stakeholders in the port ecosystem with cutting-edge solutions. “. Mr. Hassan ABKARI, Director General of Tanger Med Port Authority, declared: “ Tanger Med has deployed solutions based on blockchain technology, and integrated into its Tanger Med Port Community System, allowing better automation and security of documentary and financial flows. Thanks to this partnership with the BCP Group, a significant step forward has been made with obtaining the voucher to be issued, thus paving the way for wider adoption of this technology for the benefit of the entire supply chain, and thus strengthening the competitiveness of operators ».
