At this price, the new Skoda Elroq is already shaping up to be a future bestseller

Obviously, the shorter length has an impact on the useful volume. But with 470 liters, it still remains perfectly generous, and sufficient to meet the needs of the families for whom the SUV is intended. The rear seat space is identical to its big brother: very generous, including for adults.

Unique design

However, the Elroq – whose name is a contraction of ELectric kaROQ – clearly stands out in terms of design. It is in fact the first to feature Skoda’s new “Modern Solid” stylistic language, prefigured by the Vision 7S concept that visitors to the Auto Show were able to admire last year. The style is therefore smoother and more refined, with Skoda lettering in full on the hood. By the way, this also allows us to anticipate the upcoming facelift of the Enyaq, planned for next year.

Up to 560 km between charges

The technical part and the range are already known. The offer begins with the Elroq 50, equipped with a useful 52 kWh battery which powers a 170 hp motor for 370 km. Next comes the Elroq 60 with 59 kWh battery and 204 hp engine, with a range increased to 400 km WLTP. At the top of the range sit – at least for the moment – the 85 and 85x. The two share a power of 286 hp, provided by a rear motor on the first, by two motors located on each axle on the second, providing all-wheel drive. Their 77 kWh battery gives them a range of up to 560 km, among the most generous in the segment. Recharging, although fast since it can reach 175 kW in direct current, will still require 28 minutes of connection to go from 10 to 80% charge.

An aggressive price

Skoda is also returning to its good habits in terms of quality/price ratio, with a starting price of €33,990. A particularly well positioned price given the space and standard equipment. This may seem high, but it’s roughly the price of a basic Golf! And even at the top of the range, the price does not skyrocket: €41,690 for the 85. In short, an almost affordable electric for families, especially if we compare to much more compact or more expensive competitors which are currently a hit, Volvo EX30 and Tesla Model Y in particular.
