The general director of the Moroccan Society of Tourist Engineering (SMIT), Imad Barrakad, indicated that the road map put in place by Morocco in the tourism sector includes new measures capable of stimulating investment in this sector. vital and strategic.

Speaking at the “Future Hospitality Summit World” conference, held in Dubai, Barrakad explained that these measures mainly consist of important mechanisms and incentives intended to encourage investment in this sector under this roadmap, in addition to the Investment Charter and the various government initiatives which aim to promote tourism as a strategic sector.

Indeed, many large international hotel chains have chosen to set up in Morocco, which has become a preferred tourist destination, thanks to the significant efforts made in this context, affirmed Barrakad, noting that the co-organization by Morocco of the 2030 World Cup with Spain and Portugal should stimulate and accelerate the establishment of tourist and hotel infrastructures, as well as entertainment structures in several Moroccan cities which will host the matches of this football high mass or the training of the participating teams.

In this sense, he noted that SMIT works to support and accompany investors wishing to invest in Morocco, which offers a favorable business environment and well-developed infrastructure, adding that the figures achieved by tourist activity in Morocco constitute an asset for the growth of this sector.

For his part, SMIT’s director of investment development, Younes Hajoui, highlighted the tourism investment opportunities in Morocco, both for Emirati investors and those from Gulf Cooperation Council countries.

In this regard, he stressed that Morocco is preparing to host large-scale sporting events, such as the African Cup of Nations and the FIFA World Cup, specifying that the Kingdom is working to develop sports complexes. leisure and hotels to offer an appropriate tourist offer.

SMIT’s participation in the Future Hospitality Summit World is part of efforts to increase foreign direct investment in the tourism sector. This results in the organization of meetings with the main players in tourism investment in the Middle East and on a global scale, in order to encourage them to invest in Morocco, which aims to position itself as one of the most popular destinations. more attractive to international investors.

The company’s efforts in recent years to boost public tourism investment have contributed to the improvement and growth of the tourism sector in the Kingdom.

At the event, conference participants delved into regional investment trends, hospitality sector prospects in Africa, Europe and the Gulf region, with emphasis particularly on the future prospects of technology in this sector. They also examined issues relating to health and wellbeing, asset management, and entrepreneurship and innovation.

The conference was also marked by the organization of the semi-finals of the “Women in Technology” competition, an event initiated by the United Nations World Tourism Organization, with a view to highlighting the growing role and center for women in the Middle East hospitality sector. This competition aims to promote female entrepreneurship and the most innovative start-ups led by women and using technology in the field of tourism.
