The Geneva office Pierre-Alain Dupraz Architectes unanimously won the architectural competition for the extension of the Nature and Environment Professional Training Center in Lullier. Entitled Greffon, his project was chosen from 52 applications.

Greffon presents a strategy which reflects both the accuracy of the reading of the initial 1974 project of the architects Alfred Damay, Michel Frey and the landscape architect Walter Brugger, as well as the fine understanding of the current situation of the site, indicated Tuesday the land and public education departments. The intervention is concentrated around the 1980s extension, offering a new facade to the least qualitative building on the site.

The Lullier site is also occupied by the Geneva University of Landscape, Engineering and Architecture (HEPIA-HES-SO) which is, like the Training Center, cramped. Some buildings are temporary constructions that have become partially unsanitary and no longer meet current standards. They will be replaced.

With a net surface area of 2,300 square meters, the new construction will house specific premises for each school and shared premises. It will have 18 classrooms of different sizes, around ten administrative premises, a teacher’s room and a new library for all users of the Lullier site, where all training can be provided.

A building permit application will be submitted in a year and work will start in the second half of 2026. The new extension will be put into service in 2028-2029.
