A large part of the cars exhibited in the park of the Château de Vignoles belong to members of the Les Chevronnés association. These members of this club have united around the emblematic Traction of the Citroën brand since 1982. The vehicle was produced on a large scale between 1934 and 1957 when 750,000 models left the manufacturer’s factories.

A revolution in the automotive world with several particularities“, explains Pierre Prêcheur, member of Les Chevronnés. The vehicle is front-wheel drive. The brand is the first in the world to install this technology industrially in its cars. Another notable difference: it is its chassis.

When pre-war cars were built, the cars had a wooden structure on its chassis. With the Traction, the car has a monocoque and all-steel structure so that the car is lighter in weight. Pierre Prêcheur is clear about these technologies in this car:

These combinations created a revolution in the automotive world

By the 1960s, these cars no longer had much value,”of which ten thousand are largely scrapped“, adds the member of Les Chevronnés. Having come back into fashion at the beginning of the 80s, for a certain generation, it is the representation of the old car.

A true automotive heritage of which Pierre Prêcheur is proud. “It is also a conservation of heritage to, for example, keep them roadworthy. It’s a kind of save state“, he explains, with stars in his eyes. Today, for this four-wheeled jewel, you need to count on between €15,000 and €20,000.
