Nowadays, unwanted calls and unknown numbers can often disturb the peace of mind of smartphone users. LookUp thus represents a long-awaited response to the many inconveniences caused by these unsolicited calls and unknown numbers.

With this feature, users will now be able to quickly identify unwanted calls and take action to block them, providing additional protection against attempts at scams or telephone harassment.

This Google initiative aims to strengthen the security and well-being of users, providing them with effective tools to confidently navigate the ever-changing digital world. As its name suggests, the LookUp feature should simplify finding the caller without requiring you to juggle multiple copies and pastes.

Currently rolling out to Pixel smartphones in Japan, this feature should soon be accessible via a simple LookUp button in the call log of Android smartphones. This information was leaked by leaker Assemble Debug on X (formerly Twitter).

According to him, LookUp will not only identify unknown callers, but also improve the emergency calls interface in the Google Pixel Phone application.

This announcement sparks great interest among Android users, who are eagerly awaiting the arrival of this feature for a safer and smoother phone experience.

To access this handy tool, users will need to go to their call log, select the contact concerned, then click on the LookUp button located near the “History” or “Message” icons. This action will instantly launch a Google search, thereby discovering the identity of the caller. However, LookUp’s usefulness doesn’t stop there.

Apart from saving users’ time, this feature will also help them combat unwanted calls and update their contact list. In other words, it will be much easier to spot cold calling or spam.

However, for this functionality to effectively fulfill its role, it is necessary that the caller be listed on the Internet. Otherwise, it will not be possible to identify it.

Despite this potential limitation, LookUp nevertheless represents a significant step forward in managing unwanted calls for Android smartphone users.
